“Elizabeth/Doula Wren was a key ingredient in the success of my labor and delivery. My goal was to go as “intervention-free” as possible. I did not want an epidural, constant monitoring, pitocin, or any other additional drugs if it could be helped. I hoped to keep moving and be more active during labor. My biggest goal was to avoid a C-section.

Elizabeth/Doula Wren knew all this coming in. During my 3rd trimester, she set up appointments with us to talk through deciding our birth plan and address our questions, prepare us for labor and the associated pains, and build a relationship of trust. I remember feeling confident and courageous knowing that I’d have someone truly advocating for me. When contractions started, she was with us every step of the way. Long story short, my labor spanned 3 days and she remained steadfast in her support, encouragement, and sound advice. I could write pages upon pages describing all that happened in the 10+ hours laboring at home, the transition to (and the complications and frustrations at) the hospital, and the post-birth support with delivering the placenta and her help with getting it encapsulated. But for the sake of brevity, through the whole experience, Elizabeth/Doula Wren did not waver and did exactly what we hoped our doula would do.”

“Having Elizabeth by my side as I prepared for my VBAC was a game changer. Her knowledge of birth is seemingly endless and the preparation we did gave me so much confidence. She really took the time to get to know me and understand my hopes for the birth and then guided me in a very tailored way from there. Once I was actually in labor, her calm and intuitive approach was exactly what I needed. She was encouraging when things got hard and steady when they were at their most intense. She kept the energy of the whole room peaceful and happy. Having so much experience with birth, she was able to suggest different positions and ways to labor that helped things stay moving and helped me find little bits of relief throughout. A few weeks after my daughter was born, Elizabeth came back over and processed the birth with me, which I loved. She asked insightful questions and both validated and celebrated the experience. I wish everyone could birth with her by their side.”

“In November 2021, only a month or so after finding out I was pregnant I started researching doulas. This was going to be my first birth and my goal was to do it with the least amount of interventions as possible. I knew that just like a marathon, you shouldn’t show up to the race without training. I had the pleasure of being matched with Elizabeth who from the very beginning was warm and put my anxiousness at ease. Throughout the experience, she took the time to get to know my husband and me and used that knowledge to tailor our learning. She prepared us with different pain coping strategies, she helped us determine what was most important for us during labor, she educated us on different options and routes as well as different interventions so that we would be informed before going to the hospital. Although I was nervous as I reached 9 months, we had the confidence that I was ready because of Elizabeth’s help along the way. When I went into labor and we contacted Elizabeth she was prompt in responding and ready to come whenever we wanted her in the room. When she did arrive, she immediately got to work and met my needs before I even knew what they were. I had a lot of pressure and pain in my lower back throughout and both Elizabeth and my husband were able to apply counter pressure in a way that my husband alone wouldn’t have been able to do. My husband is so grateful that she was there as well because Elizabeth was able to jump in when he needed a break from giving me counter pressure. She was there to keep me calm, confident and to continue giving me options. In the end, I delivered a beautiful baby girl without any medication (which was my ultimate goal) and with low interventions throughout. I couldn’t have achieved this feat without Elizabeth teaching and guiding us throughout my pregnancy and through labor. I highly recommend Doula Wren and Elizabeth!”

“I have been honored to attend a number of births with Elizabeth and witness her deep capacity in how she shows up whole-heartedly for clients. She shows up consistently with compassion, presence, and grounded support. I have always been impressed with her ability to provide excellent educational and emotional care to clients throughout their perinatal experience. Elizabeth cultivates a warm, kind, and encouraging container to support her clients in whatever birth experience they are pursuing. I highly recommend her services as a way to supplement birthing families in their pursuit of support, education, guidance, and heart-centered doula care. Thank you for all you do in this birthing community, Elizabeth!”

“We loved working with Elizabeth for the birth of our son, Charlie. She helped us understand the ins and outs of delivery and birth which helped us feel empowered going into it. Elizabeth knows all the magic labor positions and pain management tools – I had extremely painful back labor and she helped position me to keep me as comfortable as possible before getting the epidural. But more than her technical knowledge, it’s about her warmth and great communication, too.”

“As a first-time mom, I had a lot of questions about pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Elizabeth’s guidance through my pregnancy was tremendously helpful in preparing for labor. I appreciated how much she cared for both my physical and mental well-being. She helped me negotiate an early labor as well as an unexpected last-minute change in hospitals. Elizabeth helped me breathe through each contraction and brought a sense of comfort and calm. Elizabeth was essential for giving me the strength to have an unmedicated birth. I have encouraged other expecting mothers to obtain the support of a doula as a result of my wonderful experience with Elizabeth.”
